Digitalization and Circular Economy as enabling factors in SMEs innovation processes

The world economy is only 8.6% circular, and the percentage has fallen since 2018, when it was 9.1 %. Digital technologies are increasingly pervasive in our society and are enabling factors for a more efficient use of available resources, for a reduction of the production volumes and for the waste reduction.

Digital solutions enable the sharing of resources (e.g. sharing mobility solutions), while others allow to modulate their use according to the actual need (e.g. smart lighting and building automation solutions); but digital technologies are not immaterial. We will analyse how to develop a more integrated and structured collection and recycling network, in the face of devices with very short life cycles and how digital technologies can help SMEs to a more efficient use of resources by presenting the general concepts and different success stories.
